i can see this being abused by people with 2 accounts...

make new character and play with it on another account. Delete and do it again
title in no time and gifts and reward too..

Can we get a "Grenth's Faction" which rewards you for being an ass? I'm just asking because being "good" seems very out of character for my Necromancer...

...

... okay, that may or may not have been true (mixed intentions, perhaps), but that's besides the point.

I don't like the suggestion for the same reasons mentioned by the other posters (see Shayne's reply for my personal feelings towards it).

Edit: I was bored, so I made this!

Grenth's Faction title progression!
Rank 1. Rotten Heart
Rank 2. Darkened Soul
Rank 3. Bringer of Judgment
Rank 4. Defiled by Grenth
Rank 5. Minion of Grenth
Rank 6. Fanatic of Grenth
Rank 7. Cultist of Grenth
Rank 8. Servant of Grenth
Rank 9. Avatar of Grenth
Rank 10. Reaper of Grenth

Suggestions to change these are of course welcome.

That's a brilliant idea, Anet should implement it.

Many of the lifeless, irritated, and raging characters are the people who started playing a long time ago, which was when people were always around to do stuff and help people. According to my infallible logic, now that there are no people around to do stuff and help people, people will no longer turn out to be lifeless, irritated, and raging.

I started 4.5 years ago, and I haven't. Most of the people I see this way have grinded the game to the bone and have nothing else to do but complain, or despite complaining about Anet until they are blue in the face, choose to stay and make everyone else miserable.

It's pretty obvious that if such a title was added, there would be a way to prevent double accounts and such. That's not a solid reason disapprove an idea.

Agreed.

Besides I'm sure many ppl want another reason to help new players, other than the fact of that good feeling you get right afterward.

And that good feeling isn't really so great as this is a game and you can't really see that person's appreciation other than just looking at chat and seeing a "thx".

I remember giving random shit to people in runescape when trading was still possible there. The only thing they said was "can i has moar plz?".

Let's be honest, guys. All of you are doing this because it makes you feel good and charitable, in other words, to give yourself an ego boost. Replacing that with a title won't make much difference in terms of motivation, it will just make more people do it and tbh, I don't see anything wrong with that.

Rez Plz any new dervs in kamadan need a healer

I've given away money, weps, runs and I don't feel this really needs a title, good or bad, helping others out is why you have guilds and a friend list.

This thread seems more like a personal gain by rushing new players instead of rewarding helpfull players.

If you wanne be the nice guy then why do you need a title or new "rare" mini's?

Have you been a a** to some players and feel guilty and hoping to find something to clean your conscience by getting a title under your name to show off to others "Hi I am mister nice guy"?

I don't know so much about the Title, but I Agree with the modivation to keep New Players interested in the Game. I've been playing for 4.5 years and I still like heading to ascalon to help out new people every now and then. I don't feel I need a title, but I am for giving those others who do not have the modivation to do this, that 'push' as you said Qcumber.

I would have to agree with that completely. You want a title, work on titles. Don't need another for helping people when it's something people should already be doing.

Actually, most new players do not have access to tomes and consumables. Tomes require HM to get, which new players obviously do not have. And both cost more money than a really new player has.

Still, like said above. I help plenty of new players/characters and I would much rather not have a title for it. The people I help are either my guild members (so you should be obligated to help them anyways) or they're my friends from other games (or my sister). I get a clearer inventory which is reward enough. Plus, then you end up with title grinders that will literally run new players (in mass) through a campaign. They'll learn nothing but to look/ask for runs... That is not playing the game. Specially when you haven't played whatever you're being run through for the first time.

Being a player with two accounts, I see this as something that can be easily abused. If you want more "rewards" other than warm fuzzies for helping players, I suggest you start powertrading and then giving your garbage drops to newbies (you kill two birds with one stone).

/notsigned

Edit: I'm going to elaborate on the abusable concept a little bit more. If you get points for helping out a character for the first time through a mission, then people would only need two accounts and could then power run through the first part of canta. If you were to restrict the points being given one a completion of a new mission per account, there's not going to be enough newbies to get players past rank 2 or so because there are so many people that have done most of the missions compared to people who haven't.
